From HIC, we extend our warmest congratulations to The Community Land Trust, Hastings Commons, the Movement of Occupants and Tenants (MOI) in Argentina and FUNDASAL in El Salvador, for being recognised in the 2025 edition of the prestigious World Habitat Awards.
The Community Land Trust, Hastings Commons (UK), has been honored with the 2025 GOLD World Habitat Award for its exceptional work in creating affordable, community-focused housing and spaces.
The MOI, winner of the Silver Award, was highlighted for its innovative project ‘La Fábrica’, a housing cooperative model located in Buenos Aires. This project provides 55 affordable and safe homes for low-income people, while encouraging the active participation of women and youth in building more inclusive and sustainable communities.
FUNDASAL, winner of the Bronze Award, was recognised for its capacity building programme in rural habitat in El Salvador. This initiative empowers marginalised communities through training and resources, enabling the construction of safe and resilient housing in the face of the effects of climate change.
Both projects exemplify the commitment and innovation needed to ensure the right to a decent and safe habitat for all.
