Housing Crisis and Housing Cooperatives: Alternatives for Fairer Cities

Members of the Habitat International Coalition (HIC), together with HIC Vice President Guillermo Marzioni, took part in the event “Housing Crisis and Housing Cooperatives: An Alternative for the Construction of Affordable Housing and Fairer Cities”, organized by the Housing Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation, chaired by Deputy Leandro Santoro, and supported by HIC Latin America (HIC-AL).

The event took place on Friday, November 7, at 4:00 p.m., at the Auditorium of the Chamber of Deputies (Av. Rivadavia 1841, Buenos Aires).

The activity featured:

  • Gustavo González Soto, Senator of the Republic of Uruguay and former Secretary General of FUVCAM
  • Carla Rodríguez, researcher at IIGG, FSOC-UBA, and CONICET
  • Martín Tolosa and Juan Osorio, from the COOPERAR Confederation

The meeting fostered an exchange of experiences on housing cooperatives and their role as collective and sustainable alternatives to the housing crisis, emphasizing the need for public policies based on the right to housing and adequate habitat.
