HIC-HLRN and other participants of the First Global Stakeholder Forum, held during 25 and 26 May 2019 on the eve of the first UN Habitat Assembly at Nairobi, held a press conference this morning, 30th of May, to present the Forum’s declaration which presents agreements, commitments and steps forwards for the coming months.
Habitat International Coalition has issued an open letter to UN Habitat Executive Director
Maimunah Mohammed Sharif, calling for clarity in the indispensable cooperation of civil society and other stakeholders with the struggling agency.
Under the context of the upcoming first UN-Habitat Assembly, HIC and HLRN presented an Open Letter to UN Habitat Executive Director demanding more transparency about the new developments concerning the participation of civil society actors and partners under the overall decision-making process of UN-Habitat.
HIC-HLRN has partnered with Shelter and Settlements Alternative : Uganda Human Settlements Network to organize the first of two workshops in Kampala, Uganda (10–12 April 2019) within HLRN’s “Women, Land and Housing Rights: Assessing the Impacts of Dispossession” project to build civil society capacity at strategic monitoring and documenting priority cases.
HIC’s Housing and Land Right Network formally has submitted commentary on Israel’s current periodic report to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) on that state party’s implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
