Al-Maqdese for Society Development,represented by Mr. IssamJweihan- Director of MSD AwarenessCenter, participated in the workshopabout drugs’ harm reduction that wasconducted in Lebanon- Beirut by “MENAHRA” in order to develop a strategic action plan for the organization and for the subject of harm reduction in the region, the workshop was held between 24 and 28 of February 2014 at Al-BadovaHotel in Beirut. The workshop was attended by many of partners of “MENAHRA”from various countries in the region, as Al-Maqdese represented the state of Palestine.
During this workshop, an assessment of the overall situation and condition of “MENAHRA”was conducted by the network. Also, the vision and aspirations of the network in the short and long terms were discussed in order to address its essential role in the process of drugs’ harm reduction in the MENA region. The general situation of the drugs harm reduction in the region was also addressed through discussions and arguments about the strategic problems that may encounter the network and the training centers, and how to develop a successful strategy to face these problems.
At the end of the workshop, the main points and initial activities to help determine the components of the strategic and practical plan were identified and a discussion was made about the outstanding issues and next steps that should be worked on.
