Housing and Land Rights under Conditions of Conflict, Occupation and War

Aim of Activity: This event is aimed at looking at housing and land rights under conflict, occupation and war. We aim to llok at the issues shared continent-wide, in Africa and the Middle East, including Western Sahara; fromerly occupied Namibia; post-war Angola issues; the San, Masai; and tribal and land-based peoples generally; the Zimbabwe evictions; other relevant cases such as Palestine.

Expected Outcomes: We expect that this event will create a unity amongst populations of countries in transition and countries in conflict. The aim is to discuss cross-cutting issues common to all and to produce a common set of methodologies and techniques. We also hope to explore cases of success and failure, while aiming to bring to light the diverse methods employed by various groups in the defence of right to adequate housing and land.
