Capacity building

In the presence of the minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Mr. Adnan Al-Hussieni, and the minister of Labour, Dr.Ahmad Majdalani, Al-Maqdese for Society Development celebrated today in its office in Al-Ram the graduation of 80 Jerusalemite women who attended vocational training and small and medium project management trainings in Jerusalem. These trainings were conducted within the framework of the gender equality project which is funded by the European Union.

Mr. Taher Nammari, the head of the Supervisory committee at Al-Maqdese, started the opening ceremony.   First Mr. Taher welcomed the minster of Jerusalem and the minister of Labor and the attendants; then he pointed out that these trainings aim to develop the society in general, raise the level of equality between men and women, and graduate women who are able to serve the Palestinian community and meet its needs and requirements. He also thanked the attendants and congratulated the graduates.

The Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Mr. Adnan Al-Husseini, emphasized the importance of good planning which enabled Al-Maqdese to manage this kind of projects with such success, meeting the needs of the Palestinian community in Jerusalem, and covering a variety of vocational fields.

The Minister of Labour, Dr. Ahmad Majdalani, presented a description for the economic situation in Jerusalem, in light of poverty and education percentages statistics. He also referred to the government supporting of small projects and vocational trainings in Jerusalem as a tool for resistance.

At the end of the celebration, the ministers, Mr. Taher, Dr. Bashar Azzeh- Head of Board at Al-Maqdese, and Mr. Moaz Za’tari – the General Manager at Al-Maqdese handed the certificates to the trainers and trainees. Finally, Al-Maqdese honored the ministers and the head of board for their efforts in supporting the resistance of Jerusalemites through supporting developmental projects implemented by Al-Maqdese.
