Grassroots Trust for Community Organization in Kenya, that brings together some civil society organizations, in collaboration with County Government of Kisumu and local and International Housing stakeholders invited HIC President, Adriana Allen to join the 2nd Kisumu international conference on adequate and affordable housing for all.
Kisumu is hosting the international housing conference in two phases. The first one happenned between October 5 and 6, when HIC President joined to contribute on the topic of “Unpacking land right and its effects on other fundamental Human Rights and innovative strategies for expanding land tenure regime”. The virtual sessiones were organized under two days event aimed at bringing the participation of the international partners on board. The virtual event attracted about 400 participants locally and around the world.
The conference organised every two years, is seeking to promote sustained, stronger engagement, commitment and support of the national and county governments on land reforms, moratorium on evictions and implementation of affordable housing.
The gathering aims to contribute to the progressive realization of the right to access secure land and affordable housing for sustainable development. At the same time, organisers hope to use the platform to accelerate the processes of implementation of the resolutions of the first housing conference held in 2019.
