HIC contributions to the debate on the Zimbabwe Human Settlements Policy

The Zimbabwe Human Settlements Policy (ZNHSP)  marks an important step in advancing an inclusive and rights-based approach to human settlements development across urban and rural areas.
Our President, Adriana AllenAllen, participated in an interesting discussion with Francis Mukora from the Community Alliance for Human Settlements in Zimbabwe (CAHSZ) and the Minister of Housing and Social Amenities of Zimbabwe at the Zimpapers TV Network.
In case you missed the show, please watch it here;
The discussion ranged around can, if and/or how can the ZNHSP be used to address Zimbabwe’s housing backlog currently standing at 1.25 million units (and growing); end land corruption, demolitions and arbitrary evictions; and instead deliver Housing For All Zimbabweans, security of tenure and transform informal settlements into habitable safe cities and communities aspired under UN SDG11.
In order to fulfill the commitments, our President highlighted 2 central elements
1⃣ promote social inclusion and reducing social, economic and territorial inequalities
2⃣ promotion of a transparent, participatory and comprehensive governance framework for the implementation with civil society and local governments.
HIC will follow the implementation of this interesting policy with Zimbabwe civil society. Share it widely!
