The 2012 Annual World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty, “Land governance in a rapidly changing environment”, will be held on
April 24 and 25, 2012 at the World Bank Headquarters, Washington, D.C. It aims
to foster dialogue and sharing of experience on how different actors can help
improve land governance and how doing so can contribute to equitable growth and
poverty reduction.
There shall be presentations at the conference that shall focus on
innovative, pro-poor, gender-sensitive and scalable ways of harnessing land
governance for structural change in different areas. For details on format see

To ensure broad stakeholder representation, the organizers invite empirically
oriented papers of between 6,000 and 12,000 words for presentation at the
conference and possible subsequent publication in a proceedings volume.
Individuals interested in presenting a paper at the conference are required to
submit an 800 to 1,500 word abstract of their presentation.
Papers should be
submitted under on one of three main thematic areas:
- Innovative approaches to land governance & management: Evidence on
implementation & impact - Creating & maintaining technical, analytical, and administrative
capacity for land governance - Large scale land-related investment: Lessons from experience in
agriculture & other sectors
