Al-Maqdese databank issued a statistical report detailing the home demolitions that have occurred in East Jerusalem since the beginning of 2011, including those carried out both by the authorities and the people themselves under direct pressure from the authorities.
The report indicates that the number of home demolitions carried out since January 2011 is 31, 14 of these were cases of forced self demolition. The other 17 demolitions were executed by the Israeli Authorities consisting of the Israeli municipality, and/or the Ministry of Interior, and/or the Environment Authority.
The report showed that around 106 Palestinians in East Jerusalem were displaced and dispossessed as a result of the home demolitions; 61 of these victims were children.
Most of the buildings demolished were inhabited residential structures, and the destruction was carried out in almost all areas and neighborhoods of East Jerusalem, including Jabal Al-Mukabber, Silwan, Sur Baher, Wadi Al-Joz, Beit Hanina and Al-Sheikh Jarrah.
The report includes demolitions of non-residential buildings such as tents, commercial stores, walls, small markets and the sit-in tents that the Jerusalemite MPs resorted to .
Al-Maqdese also issues an annual comprehensive and detailed report on home demolitions in Jerusalem. This report includes data sourced from the field research of the Data Bank and other reliable sources. It is part of the tremendous efforts of MSD in documenting and providing statistics to various home demolition practices.
