The HIC Board appointed Mr Massa Koné as the new Social Movement Representative to the HIC Board.
This is a global position with the mandate to represent and network social movements globally. Unlike Regional Representatives who are elected by HIC Members, the HIC Board also has three seats that are filled by Global Representatives, who can originate from any region in HIC. One of these global seats is reserved for Social Movements. In order to enhance regional balance and representation on the HIC Board, the Board chose to specifically invite candidates from HIC Africa.
After a long and carefully considered process, including brief interviews with each of the three candidates in December 2021, the Board appointed Mr Massa Koné based in Mali, on 18 January 2022 due to his rootedness and wide-spanning involvement in social movements on the African continent as well as in global networks, such as the World Social Forum.
