which will take place from 22-26 September 2014.
About the project
The
100,000 Homes Campaign is part of the strategy of the NGO
Community Solutions to end homelessness in the USA, advocating and
transferring the proven ‘Street to Home’ method pioneered in New York
to communities elsewhere. A network of over 100
organisations is committed to this work at the local or national level
in addition to implementation teams in 238 participating communities. The
Campaign started in July 2010 and is scheduled to end in July 2014.
As of April 2014, more than 94,000 homeless persons have been
permanently housed, which is ahead of schedule to successfully
conclude the Campaign in July 2014.
Purpose of the visit
The purpose of the visit is to facilitate the exchange of
knowledge and experience, providing participants with an opportunity to
become a part of a community of practice and gain an in-depth
understanding of the key aspects of this
award-winning programme. Intensive site visits form a major part of
the peer exchange, enabling participants to meet with residents
and others responsible for the programme’s success.
Bursaries available
There is no conference fee to attend the peer exchange and
all food, accommodation and internal travel costs will be met by BSHF
for the duration of the visit. Limited bursary funds are available for
those requiring financial assistance with international travel
costs.
