The HIC Africa Coordinator and the HIC General Secretariat are pleased to inform you of the launch the election process for the election of a regional representative and an alternate to the HIC Board.
The mandate of Mr. Moussa Ka, your regional Representative to the HIC Board has expired. Mr. Moussa Ka has agreed to serve until the representatives are elected. The next four-year term will run from June 2023 to May 2027.
This election will be conducted under the coordination of an Election Committee (EC) composed of 3 volunteers:
- Mr. Humphrey Otieno (otieno.humphrey@yahoo.com) who will coordinate the EC,
- Mrs Marie Huchzermeyer (marie.huchzermeyer@wits.ac.za
), and - Mr. Léon Guy Mfomou (cdrcongeh@yahoo.fr)

The EC will be supported, during the whole process, by Mr. Desmond Chieshe (desmond@hic-net.org), the HIC-Africa Coordinator and by Marie (marie@hic-net.org), HIC-GS Membership Coordinator.
The Guide to the Election Process fully describes the requirements and important steps of the process. It also contains a description of the tasks and responsibilities of the regional Representatives at the Board, as well as the different ways to update or activate the membership in order to fully participate in this process and to elect the representative and his/her alternate.
This document, prepared by the HIC-AF Coordinator and the HIC-GS Membership Coordinator, and reviewed and approved by the EC, should be considered as a mark of guidance to facilitate the work of the EC.
We remind you that, according to the requirements of the HIC Constitution and Bylaws, only Member organisations in good standing have the right to nominate candidates, to be nominated and to vote. To participate in the election, the deadline to pay your annual membership fees is the 17 April and the deadline to send your list of in-kind contributions is the 10 April. However, to participate in nominations, you must be in good standing before the 22 March 2023. You still have time to activate or renew your membership with the HIC-GS.
