- Date: 4-5 December 2019
Location: Douala – Cameroon

In collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU) of Cameroon, the Diocesan Committee for Social Activities and Caritas of the Archdiocese of Douala is organizing the first Salon Villes et Toits du Cameroun in Douala, on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 December 2019, under the theme: “Le potentiel des quartiers populaires”.
This exhibition will generally examine the living environment of the inhabitants of the working class districts of the city of Douala as well as the initiatives to improve the living environment that exist there. Particular emphasis will be placed on the assets of these working class neighbourhoods, from a sociological, economic and artistic point of view.
This Fair plans to become the annual meeting place for sharing and reflection on the improvement of the working class neighbourhoods of Cameroonian cities in order, on the one hand, to participate in the deconstruction of the negative and discriminatory perception of working class neighbourhoods and, on the other hand, to encourage the inhabitants of working class neighbourhoods to work on their own, and above all, to improve their living conditions.
The Fair will be held every year during October, known as Housing Month, in one of the Cameroonian cities, in order to significantly contribute to the improvement of the working class districts of these cities as well as to deconstruct the negative and discriminatory perception of users and administrators of these districts.
